O2 to get iPhone contract for UK

Mobile phone operator O2 is reported to have won the sought-after deal to sell Apple's iPhone in the UK. Press reports said that O2 is set to sign an exclusive contract shortly and should have the new phones on sale in time for Christmas.

Apple Sells 525,000 iPhones in Three Days

Everyone knew that the iPhone was going to be big from the moment it was announced in early January. Not even the $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB) price tags were enough to keep Apple from selling around 525,000 iPhones from 6:00 PM Friday evening through close of business on Sunday.

First iPhone disassembly

MacNN has obtained disassembly photos of Apple's iPhone in an effort to better learn about the manufacturing process that Apple engineers settled on for the cellular handset.

MacNN obtained an iPhone just after the device launched earlier today, and has posted photos of the device as it was unpacked from the original packaging and turned on to await activation.

iPhone sales said to hit half-million

Opening weekend sales of iPhones may have reached 500,000, according to an analyst's estimate, as Apple's much anticipated product saw sales that lived up to and even exceeded its hype.

Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster released a report Sunday night estimating that the iPhone sales would reach that mark through the close of business Sunday. He had previously forecast first weekend sales of 200,000 of the device, which sells for either $499 or $599.
